The title of this blog is InFomentation because, like philanthropy, information can be transformational. Information foments action, and inspires growth and change. Information also inspires philanthropy.

Those of us who do this work specialize in knowledge management and competitive intelligence for the purpose of promoting philanthropy and leveraging information for successful fundraising. The three focus areas of prospect development are prospect research, relationship management, and  data analytics.

I have been working in prospect development since 1996, and I am a fierce advocate of the profession, and of philanthropy in general. On this site, I share resources, insights, and opinions about prospect development. I also write about issues pertaining to trends in philanthropy, technology, and social entrepreneurship.
